Secrets || Danny

Danny sighed. "For those of us not in the medical field, or familiar with the terminology, u mind telling us what the hell ETA means?" he asked. Danny was frustrated about what happened to Mac, of course, this was his boss after all and he didn't wanna lose him, the frustration could be heard in his voice.

"Estimated Time of Arrival, Detective Messer,"the medic replied. "We should be at the hospital shortly. From there, the doctors will take care of him and I expect him to be put in to ICU afterwards,"he added. He heard the frustration in the young detective's voice and couldn't blame him. He was frustrated himself. He was going to make sure that they didn't have to share the worst news in the business with these detectives and their coworkers. It wasn't something he'd like to do later.

Danny sighed. "Thanks, how's his blood pressure holding up, is it steady?" he asked.

The medic nodded and rechecked Mac's blood pressure. He shook his head, still looking concerned. "He's mostly stable at the moment, but I would like his blood pressure to be back at a normal level once he's treated and out of the woods. Right now it's a little on the low side,"he replied.

Danny let out a mini scream. "Come on boss, hang in there!!!!" he pleaded, lightly banging his head against the ambulance.

The medic looked up as the driver pulled the ambulance in to the hospital. "Alright, we're here,"he said. He looked back over at Danny as his team unloaded Mac and raced him inside. "We'll do everything we can, and Detective Taylor will be fine. I promise."

Danny held Stella close to him. "He's gonna be fine, Stella. Mac's a fighter. He's gonna beat this. He's not one to give up. Come on, let's go inside and wait." he said.

Stella nodded, shaking a bit and worried sick. "I hope so, I can't lose him Danny."

Danny nodded. "I know, Stell. Don and Hawkes are on their way, I just received a text from Don. I know u feel very deeply for him, but we don't need to get into that right now. All we can do is find the son of a bitch who did this and pray for Mac." he said.

Stella nodded. "Yeah, I know. But I'm staying here with him."

Danny placed a firm hand on Stella's shoulder. "I'm staying here too, regardless. Even if I have to sleep in the room, I'll do whatever it takes. You're not alone in this, Stella. When one of us goes down, we all go down." he said.

Stella looked up at him,and nodded, even smiling just slightly.

Minutes later, maybe even seconds later, Don and Hawkes showed up. "Any word on Mac?" Don asked.

"They took him in as soon as we got here, his blood pressure was low,"Stella reported.

Don shook his head. "Son of a bitch. We need to get back to the apartment and swab for DNA. Stella, did we collect any samples of the blood trail we discovered?" he asked.

Stella shook her head. "Not yet, we were so concerned with Mac."

Don nodded. "Yeah our main concern is Mac. I mean don't get me wrong, I wanna catch this son of a bitch but right now I think we need to be here." he said. Danny sighed. "He's gonna be fine. When have we known Mac to give up?" he asked.

"Never,"Stella said. "He's a hard-ass like that."

Danny nodded. "U guys want coffee, it's on me." he said, trying to lighten the mood.

Stella nodded. "Yeah, I'll take some."

Danny nodded. "Boom!! I'll be back. I'll try and get an update on Mac. U guys hang tight. Stell, cream, sugar?" he asked.

Stella nodded. "Sure,"she said with a shrug and a half-hearted slight smile.

Danny nodded. "Hey guys we came as soon as we heard. How's he doing?" Adam asked.

"Not so good, his blood pressure was low, they took him straight in,"Stella said.

Adam sighed as he took a seat. "Damn. Boss is a fighter. It's not his time to go. I'll see if I can find out anything. Or if u want, I can go the apartment and process it." he said.
