Secrets || Danny

Don shook his head. "He's a fighter, but it's not as strong as I'd like. Someone really wanted him to suffer before they tried to kill him."

Stella sighed and she was scared for Mac. "Mac, Mac you're gonna be alright, u hear me? Don't u dare give up, and don't u dare leave me!!!" she pleaded as she took his hand and held it. "Don, pupils, any reaction to light?" he asked. "Damn I wish Hawkes was here. By the time I call him the medics will be here already."

Don yanked out a small flashlight from his pocket. He checked before he nodded. "Yeah, he's hanging in there, but he still needs an ambulance fast,"he replied. "C'mon Mac, you're gonna be fine, alright buddy? Hang in there!"

Danny sighed. "Hawkes, we need your help at 126th and Jefferson, Mac's been hurt. He's not responding, his pupils are fixed and dilated but he's not gonna be able to hang on much longer. We could use your medical expertise." he said.

Hawkes nodded. "I'll be there as soon as I can, just make sure he hangs in there,"he said, grabbing his keys and racing out to his car.

Danny nodded. "Will do, Doc. Hurry, not sure how much longer he can hang in there." he said.

"I'm on my way now. I'll be there in five minutes,"Hawkes said.

"Sounds good, Hawkes." Danny said just as the medics showed up. "The medics are here. We'll try to stall them until u get here. Will be risky but we'll do what we can till u get here."

"Got it. The biggest concern is Mac,"Hawkes said as he pulled up to the address shortly after. He immediately headed to find Danny, Stella, and Don with Mac.

Danny heard the door to the car. Thankfully it was Hawkes. "Hawkes thanks for coming. He's not doing so hot. What can u do for him?" he asked desperately.

Hawkes kneeled down beside Mac, checking his pulse first. "What he needs is a hospital, but I can at least try to get the bleeding from some of these injuries down,"he said, not looking up as he set to work. "Are the medics here with that ambulance yet?"

Danny looked out the window. "Yeah they just pulled up." he said. "Ok what do we do from here, let the medics take over?" he asked.

Hawkes nodded. "Get them back here and let them get him in the ambulance. They'll be able to check his blood pressure and get him on IV. That'll do Mac a world of good and they'll also be able to take care of his injuries a bit better than I can,"he said.

Danny ran downstairs. "Alright guys, perfect timing, we need Mac to get to the hospital now, start an IV on him, check his BP, all that good stuff." he said.

The medics nodded. "He'll be fine, Detective Messer,"one of them said reassuringly. They then raced to get Mac on the ambulance where they quickly got him on an IV, checked his blood pressure, and one of them put an oxygen mask on him before checking his pulse. "We're losing him, his blood pressure is dropping,"one of the medics rattled off the reading. One of the others nodded and poked his head out of the back doors of the ambulance. "We're taking him to Trinity General, we've got room enough for two of you to ride along if you wish,"he said.

"Stell, go, go, Mac would want u there with him when he wakes up." Don said.

Stella nodded and looked back at Danny. "You coming too? I know he'd want you there too,"she said.

Danny nodded. "Yeah I'm coming, Don, u gonna be alright?" he asked.

Don nodded determinedly, "Yeah, you guys go with Mac. I'll meet you guys there."

Danny nodded. "Alrighty, we'll let u know what happens." he said.

Don nodded. "Thanks, You two keep an eye on him, now,"he said.

Danny nodded. "Will do." he said.

Don nodded and then gathered Hawkes before heading for his car. Meanwhile the medics took Mac back to the hospital, working in the whole ride over.

Stella was scared for Mac. He was like a brother to her, an older brother, and the last thing she wanted was to lose him. "Mac, stay with us ok? You're gonna be fine, stay with us!!" she said.

"ETA?"one of the medics asked the driver, concern in his eyes. "We'll be there shortly,"the driver responded. The medic nodded and turned back to Mac. His concerned gaze flashed up to Stella and Danny for a moment before returning back to his work. "He's going to be fine, Detectives,"he said, hoping he wasn't lying.
