Mac looked back at Truby. "You and I need to find somewhere to hang low. Do you have any ideas?"

Truby nodded. "There's a place I like to go to in Midtown called Chubby's. Jenkins won't know I'm there, Mac." he said.

Mac nodded. "You wanna drive?"

Truby nodded. "Sure, I can drive, Mac. My car's parked a couple blocks from here." he said.

Mac nodded in agreement. "Lead the way then, Truby."

Truby did just that and led Mac to his car. "It's that red Charger over there, Mac." he said.

Mac followed Truby and then nodded when he spotted the car. "Thanks for being honest with me, Truby. It helps my team more than you know. And I appreciate that. They'll find Jenkins and we won't let him touch you. You've got my word on that."

Truby nodded as he got into his car. "Hey, it's the least I can do, Mac. I consider u a friend, not just a fellow cop. A real friend. Thank u for taking the opportunity to hear my side of the story. I'm not gonna let Jenkins get away with this. I really thought he was a friend. Turns out he's just another crooked cop. What are the chances huh?" he asked.

Mac nodded in agreement as he joined Truby in the car. "Friends can be tricky to find these days, unfortunately," he said with a slight frown, "Especially good ones. And I consider you a friend, too, Truby. I know we've had our rough patches in the past, but... I won't say I'm an easy man to get along with so, if you've got the patience to put up with me, God bless you for it."

Truby smirked some at Mac's last statement. "I won't lie, u are pretty challenging to get along with, but hey, who isn't, right? I've learned to deal with your bad ass attitude when it comes to the job, that's just how I was taught when I went through Academy." he said.

Mac smiled. "Didn't we all?" he asked, looking over at Truby.

Truby nodded. "Why did u believe me back at the Precinct, Mac? I was sure I did it, I mean, I have to be an accomplice right? I was there when Jenkins gave u that beat down." he said.

"Really? A gut feeling," Mac said honestly. "And technically, you are. But I've got people in high places that owe me favors. I don't think you're guilty of this, Truby. And I'm going to make sure you don't do time for it."

Truby shook his head. "I don't see how u can let me get away with this, Mac, but I do appreciate u going out of your way to make sure I don't do jail time for this. I hope Jenkins will just come forward and admit what he did was wrong." he said.

Mac nodded and sighed quietly. "If only it was that easy every time, eh?"

Truby nodded. "That's the bar I like to hang out at when I don't wanna go home after work, Mac. If I'm a betting man, Jenkins is there." he said.

Mac nodded. "Then we better be careful," he said.

Truby was a bit weary to head inside the bar. He knew Jenkins would be there. "I'm not sure about this, Mac. He sees me, he's gonna kill me." he said.

Mac followed Truby closely, unsure of all of this himself. "We're in a public place," Mac said, "Him trying something would be ridiculous. And I've got you're back. If I have a say in it, he won't touch you."

Truby nodded as he got out of his car and headed inside the bar with Mac. "I appreciate that, Mac. Well, here goes nothing." he said.

Mac nodded, getting out himself. "Yeah, tell me about it."

Truby did his best to act natural and not make it obvious that he was scared silly. For a cop with Truby's stature, that seemed unusual. "Bar stool, 12 o'clock, Mac. He's carrying his piece with him." he said.

Mac nodded. "Play it cool," he advised, trying to find the best way to go at this.

Truby found the nearest table away from Jenkins and took a seat. "I'll have an iced tea, one lemon, two sugars." Truby told the waiter. He then eyed Mac and played it cool like Mac suggested.

Mac followed after Truby, pulling out his phone to contact a few friends he'd spotted around and alert them of the situation. Knowing what he did, him and Truby would need whatever help they could get. He remotely heard the waiter ask if he wanted anything and he looked up at her. He held her gaze longer than any normal look would've been, and he was thankful when she took the message and left him with Truby. He waited until she was out of earshot again before he slipped his phone in his pocket again and took another casual look around. "I let a few friends know of our problem. That way we're not alone in this," he told Truby when he looked back at him, "Knowing about our mutual frienemy over there, we're going to need whatever help we can get."
