Secrets || Danny

Danny nodded back. That was definitely too close to call, Don was thinking Danny was talking to someone not from his high school. "That was a close call." he said to himself.

Don sighed. "I'm going to head back to the precinct, start looking in to some of the info I have. I'll call you if I get anything,"he said.

Danny nodded and patted Don on the back. "Sure thing, Don. I'll be in the evidence lab if u need me." he said.

Don nodded and then headed for the precinct.

Mac drained the glass as he eyed the autopsy report, reading over every last detail, large and small. He had a feeling there was something major he was missing. Between the case file and his meeting with the informant, basically Mac's unknowing guy on the inside, he was hoping he'd be able to solve this case and find that piece of information he was missing.

Danny was back at the evidence lab going over hair samples, trying to identify their Jane Doe. "Damn this is harder without Mac here. It just doesn't seem real that he's gone." he said to himself.

"Yeah,"Lindsey agreed as she walked in, report in hand. "I don't think any of us can and I still haven't told Lucy,"she added as she plopped down in a seat near Danny.

Danny sighed as he took a look at the report. "Do we have a name for our Jane Doe? Anything?" he asked, constantly looking at the door to the evidence lab, hoping Mac would walk right in.

"Yeah, AFIS says Jane Doe is actually Melina Gordon from Queens, New York,"Lindsey said, handing him the tablet she'd toted along.

Danny looked at the tablet. "Why do I get the feeling I've heard that name before?" he asked.

Lindsey shrugged, "No idea, but Mac...did a case on her one time. She was a rape victim and Mac worked the case personally,"she said, looking at her hands.

Danny bowed his head. "I miss him, Linds. Every time I go into his office, I get teary-eyed. All his things are still there, his pictures, his coffee mugs, everything." he said.

Lindsey nodded, standing and putting a hand on his shoulder. "I know,"she said softly, putting her arms around him in a hug. "It's still not real to me...but every day I come to the lab, I still expect him to show up at the crime scenes with a smile and a ' good morning' but..."she couldn't finish her sentence and she buried her face in Danny's shoulder.

Danny sighed and consoled Lindsay. "I know, it doesn't seem real. But I know he's looking down on us, expecting us to do our job. That's how he would've wanted it to be." he said.

Lindsey nodded, staying close to him. "Yeah I know. I suppose that's why we keep coming back, huh?"she asked.

Danny nodded. All of a sudden, his phone rang. He looked at the caller ID and saw it was Mac. He didn't answer it because Lindsay was standing right next to him. "Damn phone." he said.

Lindsey nodded somewhat mindlessly. "Wrong number?"she asked.

Danny looked at the call from Mac. "Uhh yeah. Hate when that happens." he said.

Lindsey nodded. "Yeah,"she said with a sigh. She pulled out her own phone. "Better let Hawkes and Don know about what I found out,"she said, dialing Don's number and looking back at the tablet she'd brought with her.

Danny nodded. "Alright, I'm gonna get some fresh air for a few. I'll be back in say, 15 minutes or so." he said. He quickly went outside and redialed Mac's number. "Mac, sorry I didn't pick up, Lindsay was standing right next to me, I couldn't pick up. So anyways what's up?" he asked.

"Nothing I'm enjoying, I'm afraid,"Mac said eyeing the mirror carefully before searching through the cabinets for Tylenol or something to take care of his headache. "I went over that case file and then went for a drive. The drive didn't help like I hoped it would,"he added as he discovered Tylenol in the array of medicine in the cabinets.

Danny sighed and let out a mini scream. "That's not good, Mac. Damn, how we wish u were here. The lab just doesn't function well without u." he said.

Mac sighed as he read over the directions on the bottle. "Yeah, I miss all of you. I know I was stressed on the job, but I only got more stressed here,"he said, grabbing a glass of water and taking a few of the Tylenol pills. "I had to drop the Tahoe off at the garage after a run-in busted up the rear bumper and then we'll just say unwelcome company gave me a hard time on the walk home."

Danny shook his head as he listened to Mac over the phone. "Talk about bad luck huh? Well since u been gone, we've been called out to 3 murders all in the same day. Don't think that's happened in a while. We're still trying to locate our Jane Doe's killer. As far as we know, he lives here in Manhattan." he said.

Mac sighed and putting Danny on speaker as he worked on one of his minor injuries. "Yeah, I honest to God miss the job. If I know what I'm in to well enough, I'll at least be able to tell my supervisor some news that'll get them somewhere in this case if not pull out and close this case after the meeting with my guy on the inside tomorrow. Unfortunately, I can't be certain on exactly how it will go because I feel like my misadventure today won't be the last. I've been at this for a month and, if you know what I mean, they're starting to probably question me the more I try to find out."

Danny walked around Central Park. "Are u certain u will be back here Mac? I mean don't get me wrong, Stella is a wonderful acting supervisor, but I don't know, I guess I'm just used to u bossing me around, if u know what I mean." he said.
