Secrets || Danny

Mac smiled a bit. "If I'm fit and they clear me for active duty after this helluva case is over, I will be there Danny. You're the one that played positive earlier, I'd prefer to not state the odds of tomorrow playing out perfectly, because those odds are not in either of our favors,"he replied.

Danny agreed. "Can't argue there, boss." he said.

Mac sighed and nodded, finishing doing what he could with his injuries. He grabbed his phone and took Danny off speaker. "Yeah. So...if something does go wrong...they're going to find out Danny, there's no arguing or doubting that either....And I know I've already put pressure on you by keeping this our secret, but if it is so bad, I'm going to need someone to explain it all for me until I can tell them myself,"he said, collapsing on the couch with another sigh. He really hoped that it wouldn't be that bad and maybe, just maybe, he'd be able to get out from his cover without anyone they didn't want to finding out that he was indeed the Detective Taylor they knew from the news.

Danny nodded and listened to Mac. "So if the others ask me who I've been talking to on the phone, am I supposed to lie to them and say it's one of my old buddies from school? Because I can tell u, Lindsay almost saw that it was u calling me earlier, Mac." he said.

Mac sighed. "If this thing goes as South as I'm worried about it going, I don't expect you to lie to them. If it goes well, I'll call you and meet you somewhere and then we'll both tell them what happened after I give a call to my supervisor on the case. My worry is that this will go a lot farther South than either of us want to and if it does, God knows what will happen. If I call tomorrow and it sounds bad, then by all means, tell them. That much, I know I can trust you with. You're perfectly able of making a call. It's part of the reason I went undercover. You, Stella, and the team are more than capable of keeping the lab running and up to speed on cases without me,"he said.

Danny was in a bit of a dilemma. "Alright, alright, sounds good to me because I can honestly tell u, I don't have a very good poker face when it comes to situations like this, boss." he said.

Mac nodded. "I know and it would be way to much to ask if I told you to just play it like nothing happened if tomorrow went South. I trust you Danny, it's the reason I told you what really happened. You're going to fine and you will be able to take this, whatever happens tomorrow. I know you can. Deep down, you can and you know it,"he said. He was really telling the truth here and he could only hope Danny understood, which he trusted Danny to do just as much as he trusted Danny before. He'd put his life in Danny's hands more than once and he hadn't ever had a reason to not trust him with information like this. Maybe one day he had, but that day had been forgotten by Mac.

Danny placed his hands on his head and shook his head in complete chaos. "I'll try Mac. If I know myself all too damn well, I may slip and let the cat out of the bag. And by accident too, if I may add. I'll lay low for a few more days, see where this goes, u keep me posted alright?" he asked.

"Yeah, I'm going to call you tomorrow after the meet. I should be able to pull out then, if this goes well,"Mac told him. "You'll be ok Danny, I know you will."

Danny sighed. "I hope so Mac. Alright, I'll wait for your call tomorrow. Stay safe and out of trouble if u can." he said.

Mac sighed and nodded. "I'll do my best, Danny. Like always."

Danny nodded. "You'll be fine, Mac. U always are. Listen, I gotta head back to the lab, I kinda left in the middle of analyzing fingerprints we lifted from the crime scene today, not necessarily something I wanted to do." he admitted.

Mac nodded. "Yeah, Yeah, I'd hate to hold you up. Thanks...for everything."

Danny nodded and smiled. "Thank u for everything Mac. Do hurry back alright? The lab sure is itching to have u back." he said.

Mac smiled a little. "And I'm itching to get my lab coat back on. Save me a pair of gloves, I'll be there."

Danny managed to let out a cheer. "That a boy, Mac. I'll tidy up your office too." he said.

Mac was now grinning and he chuckled a bit. "It would be much appreciated, Messer!"

Danny smiled. "I'd do anything and everything for a raise." he joked.

Mac smirked. "That might be harder to come across, Danny."

Danny laughed a bit more. "Didn't hurt to ask, boss." he said, as he walked back to the lab.

"No, no it didn't!"Mac said, still smirking.

Danny smiled. "Alright, alright. We'll talk tomorrow, Mac ok?" he asked.

Mac smiled softly and nodded. "Yeah. I'll call you tomorrow."

Danny nodded. "Looking forward to it. Take care of yourself." he said.

"You too, Danny,"Mac said. "I'll talk to you then."
